My Gran has been self-isolated for the past few months in her sheltered accommodation, so she was over the moon to receive a visit from family now that lockdown rules have relaxed slightly.
She’s 90 years old and has been on her own in Liverpool since the start of lockdown, unable to see anyone.
So my cousin Carly Close and my auntie Barbara thought it would be a special surprise to pop by and say ‘hello’ – from a safe, social distance – without telling her what they were planning.
Carly hired a cherry picker and asked Gran to be at her balcony window for 11am.
They were then slowly lifted up to my Gran’s first floor balcony and able to chat with her face to face for the first time in months!
This has meant the world to my Gran. She suffered with a stroke prior to the lockdown and was hospitalised all through Christmas.
She’s missed her family and the interaction they bring.
Needless to say, by the look on her face, she was delighted with the effort made!
